Obituary of Stephen Hallenbeck

DELMAR - Stephen A. Hallenbeck, 73, of Delmar passed away at his home on Sunday, January 8, 2012 with his family by his side. Born in Albany on February 24, 1938, he was the son of the late Francis and Edith (Mattice) Hallenbeck. Mr. Hallenbeck honorably served his country in the Army National Guard from 1956 to 1964. For over forty years, he was employed by the General Electric Co. in Schenectady. Survivors include his wife, Dori (Hall) Hallenbeck; son, Joel Hallenbeck, his wife, Heather and their daughter, Ruby; daughter, Betsy Vachon and her husband, Marc; brother, Roger Hallenbeck, his wife, Ruth and their children, Mark (April), Susan, Mary Garzillo (David) and Amy Maddaluna (Craig); and sister-in-law, Nancy DuBois, her husband, Jack and their children, Katie, David and Christopher (Gloria). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday morning at 10:30 am at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 35 Adams Pl., Delmar. Following the funeral mass, the family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 4 to 7 pm at the Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave., Delmar. Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations be made to either the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105 or Community Hospice of Albany, 445 New Karner Rd., Albany, NY 12205.
