I apologize for how long after Dr. DeFranco's passing this is but I felt I had to add a few words of tribute to his legacy. My name is Matt D'Alessandro. My dad was Adam and he and Dr. DeFranco worked side by side for many years at NYSIIS / DCJS. They also worked together I believe at the Planning Bureau in NYPD. Mrs. DeFranco was a good friend of my Mom's and she cherished her friendship. The tribute that has been posted here says much more than I knew about Dr. DeFranco but I did know him as a justice and public safety pioneer, a great gentleman and one who my father admired greatly and valued as a very close friend and confidant throughout his life. Dr. DeFranco took the time to attend my Dad's wake and spoke glowingly of him which made that difficult time much easier to get through. Men like Dr. DeFranco are not around anymore and sadly I think that generation will truly be 'Our Greatest'.
