Obituary of Linda M. Heim

Linda Mae Heim, 73, of Delmar, NY, passed away on January 26, 2021, at home, surrounded by her family, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, William Joseph Heim; her five children: Jason (Marjorie), Todd (Caitlin), Jodi, Daniel, and Casey; her five adored grandchildren: Jacob, Anabel, Harper, Adelaide, and Cassidy; her brother, Robert Becker of Hoosick Falls, NY; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; her spoiled Basset Hound, Phoebe; and the cat, Tiki. Beloved daughter to the late George and Dorothy Becker, Linda graduated from Shaker High School in 1965. She continued her studies at SUNY Cortland, graduating in 1969 with a degree in Physical Education. She loved her career as a P.E. Teacher, teaching at Loudonville and Southgate Elementary Schools, in addition to her 20 years at St. Thomas the Apostle School, where she was also a parishioner. Linda married William Heim in 1975, choosing to raise their children in Delmar, while spending summers at their house on Burden Lake, in Averill Park, NY. She was known for being a welcoming and gracious host. There was always room for an extra plate or 10 at the dinner table. Despite five biological children of her own, she was a surrogate mother to countless others. The Heim household was considered a second home to many of her children’s friends. An award-winning photographer, Linda’s passion and talent for photography was well known. She was rarely without a camera in her hand. Her home always covered in photos of family, friends, wildlife, and most notably, flowers. She was a longtime member of the Schenectady Photographic Society, serving a term as President. Her artistic gift was often overshadowed by her numerous other roles in a wonderfully full life. Due to the COVID pandemic, no services will occur at this time. A memorial service will be pursued at a future date.
