Claude and I were classmates at Albany medical college in the mid-1980s. When you go through a rigorous and life defining experience such as medical education and the attendant hardships, long hours and stress, strong bonds are formed between certain members of the class. Luckily for me, Claude was one of the people who helped lighten the burden. His sense of humor and general attitude about life made any difficult time much more bearable. I have come to learn that in life there are only a handful of people that always make you feel better after you´re with them and any interaction with them makes your day just a little brighter. My friend David Kammerman and Claude were two of such people. I will miss Claude dearly as he truly was like a brother. My sincere sympathies go out to his family and all those who knew him as a friend or colleague. The world is now truly a little bit emptier without him. Rest in peace my friend.
