It was with a sad heart that we learned of aunt Agnes’s transition. I have many fond memories from childhood of our families spending holidays and summers together. Those were good fun days when extended families lived close enough to frequently gather and enjoy each other’s company. She was one of the last of her generation ( a generation that I loved dearly) and even though I only had the opportunity to see or talk to her a few times after her 80 th celebration, I always enjoyed chatting with her and especially hearing tales of those days.
My condolences to my cousins and their families who have lost someone dear.

what a beautiful tribute to your Mom! I so enjoyed all the pictures, too! we enjoyed many years of friendship with Agnes. of course, we met through Frank, but long after Frank moved away, we met for coffee often even after she moved upstate we would talk on the phone with our coffee. we shared some crafting, needlepoint and I remember her working on the bubble quilt. I was quite impressed! for years I drove her to the airport for her many trips to St Louis and even picking up Stacy for her visits.. my dogs were spoiled by her visits with dog treats. we even did bible classes together. I always give credit to Agnes for teaching me to make grilled cheese with mayo instead of butter! although, I hadn't seen Agnes since her 80th Birthday we would chat on the phone and I know she was happy in NY. I will always think of her when we pass her old house. all our love to Frank, Agnes and family.. Sue and Scott

These pictures give a small glimpse of mom’s life — from when she was 2 years old standing with her brother Joey, and mother Helen, in front of her Brooklyn walk-up apartment, to when she was a beautiful young high school senior, as a newly-wed with her husband, Walter, and with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and friends, at celebrations, and traveling, near and sometimes a little far away. Her smile and generous and kind spirit radiates in every picture.
One consistent comment about mom has been how she always invited people into her day for a good conversation. Sadly, early on in the pandemic, mom suffered a stroke and lost her ability to talk. But that did not deter her. She persevered, working with the most patient speech therapists to regain some words and phrases, and continued with her eyes, her gestures, and her smile to stay connected to her family, friends and caregivers.
She navigated those final months, and days, with a quiet grace and acceptance.
We love you mom, grandma, great-grandma and friend, and we will miss you, your smile, and a good conversation over coffee.
Agnes chose to leave these words to you, “I’d like the memory of me to be a happy one, I’d like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done. I’d like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways, of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days. I’d like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun. Of happy memories that I leave when life is done.”

Mom did a lot of traveling with dad when he was alive to Alaska around 1985. We traveled to Kodiak, fished the Pasagshak river. Mom later traveled solo to visit Hawaii, Dakota's swim regionals in Washington, and again in Alaska. I have many stories with moms adventures and would love to share with anyone interesting in knowing more. With Love, Frank
