Obituary of Thomas L. Gallup

Thomas Lee Gallup, 93 of Feura Bush, NY passed away peacefully on Monday, January 17, 2022 at St. Peter’s Hospital surrounded by loving family.

Tom was born on Dec. 9, 1928 in Albany to the late Estella (Niver) Gallup and Durward Gallup and grew up in Elsmere, NY. He was a graduate of Bethlehem Central High School. After serving in the United States Army in the Korean War he came home and married the love of his life, the late Alice Beverly (Altimari) Gallup, in 1954. He spent a long and productive career as a craftsman for AT&T, first in Albany and then Clarksville, NY. He loved the outdoors and nature, camping, picnics with family and friends, square dancing, pinochle nights with friends and traveling with Mom. They especially enjoyed their vacations to Cape Cod.  Tom enjoyed singing and playing the ukulele. He was a longtime member of the St. Thomas the Apostle Church choir in Delmar, NY and a Boy Scout Leader in Clarksville, NY. He also spent time volunteering for the American Cancer Society, the Capital Region Ostomy Association and the Albany food pantry.

Tom was a devoted family man and true friend who always had a kind word and a gentle smile. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.  In addition to his parents and wife, Tom was predeceased by his brother Allen Gallup.

He is survived by a brother Wayne Gallup (Elinor) of Somerset, MA; son Craig Gallup (Therese) of Corinth, NY; son Brian Gallup (Margaret) of Delmar, NY; daughter Charise Crounse (William) of East Berne, NY; son John Gallup (Elizabeth) of Canton, NY; son Colin Gallup (Krista) of Altamont, NY; daughter Alison Gardner (Joseph) of Medusa, NY; sixteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

The family would especially like to thank Senior Projects of Ravena, the staff at St. Peters Hospital, Kristin and Morgan for the care and comfort they provided.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 am Tuesday, January 25 at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 35 Adams Pl., Delmar.  Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Selkirk.  There will be no calling hours.  Memorial contributions may be made to Senior Projects of Ravena, 9 Bruno Blvd., Ravena, NY 12143.
