Obituary of Joan L. Smith

Joan Louise (Genthner) Smith, age 74, of Delmar, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2022 at the Schenectady Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing.

Joan, a retired nurse, was a loving wife, sister, daughter, and aunt.  Joan is predeceased by her husband, William Smith; parents, William H. and Charlotte Genthner; and In-Laws, Richard and Carol Smith. 

She is survived by her brother and sister in-law, William F. and Rosalind Genthner; nephew and nieces, William G. (Lisa) Genthner, Allyson (Jonah) Thiessen and Laura (Raymond) Vannest; and six great-nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, August 30 from 10 to 11 am at Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave., Delmar.  A funeral service will follow at 11 am in the funeral home.  Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 16 Elsmere Ave., Delmar, NY 12054.
