Obituary of Donald Sylvanus Losee, Sr.

Donald S. Losee, Sr., 84, of Selkirk passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, September 22, 2022 surrounded by his loving family.

 

Born in Stuyvesant, NY on July 11, 1938, he was the son of the late Almerne and Marion Losee.  Don worked at Fort Orange Paper Co. for over 30 years and then turned his passion to running Big Don’s Hot Dogs in Albany for the next 28 years.  In addition to his parents, Don was predeceased by his son, Michael Losee and a brother, Kenneth Losee.

 

Don is survived by his wife of 66 years, Catherine Losee; children, Catherine (Kevin) Chapman, Donald Losee, Jr., Frances Gidget (Michael Mangini), and Arcangelo (Courtney) Losee; siblings, Richard (Antonietta) Losee, James (Wanda) Losee and Donna (Roland) Abare; grandchildren, Carolyn (Robert) Rafferty, Alyssa, Michael, Aria, Emma, Anthony and Parker; step grandson, Michael Mangini; great grandchildren, Etta, Adalyn and Ellery; and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Community Hospice, especially Michelle and Erin, for their care and compassion.

 

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, September 27 from 4 to 7 pm at Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave., Delmar.  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am on Wednesday, September 28 at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 35 Adams Pl., Delmar.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Thomas the Apostle Church.
