Dave and I have known each other since 1977 when we were both forestry/surveying students at Paul Smith's College. Over the years I met and spoke with Mr. Tschinkel probably a half dozen times. He was one of the nicest guys I have ever met, pure old school class. He will be missed by many.

I have known David, one of James’ sons, for over 20 years as a medical professional. During deer season Dave and I would often go over to his Dad’s home near Durham NY, either to visit or hunt. James and his wife were always wonderful to be around. Always smiling and friendly and willing to share his vast knowledge of the work he did as a lineman. I was, and am in awe of his hiking The Adirondack Trail. The physical stamina and focus needed to complete that journey is something that few of us can lay claim to. Even here in The Villages, when I visited him in the hospital after a surgery. He remained cheerful and very grateful the care given to him. We would all do well to follow in his footsteps. He was a special person and will be missed acutely by all who knew and loved him. I feel honored to have been one of his many friends.
May he Rest In Peace.
