Obituary of David Albert Clark, MD

 

David Albert Clark MD was born on November 20, 1947 and went to be with the Lord on September 23, 2023.  Born in Johnson City, New York to David Richard Green Clark and Ruth Marie Merritt Clark.  He attended Johnson City High School, SUNY Binghamton and Upstate Medical Center, Syracuse New York.  He trained in Pediatrics at UNC Chapel Hill and found his passion in caring for the critically ill and premature infants in the NICU.  He trained in Neonatology at Rainbow Women's and Children's in Cleveland, Ohio and Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, New York.  He held faculty positions at Upstate Medical Center, Westchester Medical Center and LSU Medical School in New Orleans, Louisiana.  He retired as Chairman of Pediatrics and Director of the Children's Hospital at Albany Medical Center in Albany, New York.

He was married to Darlene Wombacker Clark for 53 years and they have three precious daughters:  Jennifer Elizabeth Clark Pardo, Kimberly Amaris Clark Bullock and Melinda Beth Clark.  They also have 7 grandchildren:  William Pardo (deceased 2005), Caleb Gambelunghe, Sarah Pardo, Isabella Gambelunghe, Joshua Bullock, Ellie Rossi and Benjamin Pardo.  David has one brother James Clark and one sister Mary Ellen Clark Beach.

David was an avid gardener, accomplished photographer and loved hunting and fishing.  He will be remembered for his brilliant mind, keen sense of humor (he always had a joke for you) and his generous spirit.  He and his wife support several missionaries all over the world and in 2004 founded and continue to support a home in Bangalore India called the Mamathe Home that houses and educates impoverished children.  His wife will continue the development and sponsorship program for the Mamathe Home. 

He was known at the hospital as "the candy man" and at church as "the sticker or toy Man."  He will be gratefully missed by all.  Everyone loved Dr. Clark.

A memorial service will be held on Friday evening, November 24th at King's Chapel in Glenmont, New York.  Calling hour from 5 to 6 PM with a service to follow.
