Obituary of Marie Teresa Travison

On November 21, 2023 God called our beloved mother home to her eternal life after a lifetime of devotion to the lord.  Marie Teresa (Collins) Travison was born on March 8, 1926 to Frank and Josephine (Craton) Collins at Brady Maternity Hospital.  Marie was a lifelong resident of Slingerlands.  Marie graduated from St. Teresa of Avila Grammar School in 1941. She graduated from Vincentian Institute in 1945. Two weeks after her graduation she began her 30 year career at NYS DMV, only taking a short break to raise her children.  Marie met and fell in love with her husband John M. Travison at the DMV. They were married on May 5, 1951 and shared 51 years together until his passing on November 6, 2002. They spent many summers at their campsite in Lake George.

Marie is survived by her children, Teresa Marie Hoffmeister (Robert) and John Thomas Travison (Denise); her grandchildren Kathleen Mahan (Matt), Laura Beaton (Matthew,) Pamela Peck (Richard) and Alicia Stilson (Jason);  her great grandchildren, Alexis Peck, Cameron Peck, Samuel Beaton, Lillian Beaton, Theodore Beaton, Cadence Stilson and Connor Stilson.  Also survived by her special nieces, Barbara Collins (Wayne), Susan Grich (Susan), Patricia Weiss (Glen) and their families who always made time for visits and calls.  Marie is predeceased by her loving husband, John, and her brothers, F. James Collins (Marion) and Robert Collins (Maureen).

A special thank you to the wonderful staff and Carmelite Sisters at Teresian House who made it her home for the last three and a half years.  No words could ever be enough to show our appreciation for the loving care Marie received.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Sunday, Nov. 26 from 2 to 5 pm at Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave., Delmar.  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 am Monday, Nov. 27 at Parish of Mater Christi, 40 Hopewell St., Albany.  Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont.  Memorial contributions may be made to Teresian House, 200 Washington Ave. Ext., Albany, NY  12203.
