Obituary of Mary Elizabeth Vosburgh-Snyder

Mary Elizabeth Vosburgh-Snyder, 73, passed away peacefully at home on January 20, 2024 surrounded by those who loved her, and who will miss her smiling face, forever.

Mary was the daughter of Margaret and Kelton Vosburgh. She was born in Catskill NY on June 21, 1950. She was married to Michael Joseph Snyder for 40 years, and the loving stepmom to Shawn Colleen Snyder-Doyle (David). She was the sister of KC, Ki, Sandra, and the late Bill Vosburgh.

Mary taught high school English in the Ravena Coeymans Selkirk Central School District for 25 years where she was admired and respected by both the students and the staff.

Mary loved helping others, nature, and traveling America and the world seeking out art museums all over Europe while visiting the settings where the literature that she taught took place. Mary also loved boating, biking and hiking through the forest exploring all that nature has to offer.

Mary spent the last eighteen winters living on the Gulf Coast of Florida on Anna Maria Island where she would walk for hours along the white sand beach sometimes with a group of Dolphins swimming along with her offshore.

If you are ever walking through nature stop and look at the wonders around, you and listen to the sounds as she did. Think about her, she will be there smiling, or if you are ever fortunate enough to visit the Gulf Coast at sunset, raise a glass and give her a toast. She’ll be there smiling too.

The family would like to thank The Community Hospice of Albany for the help, understanding, and kindness they showed during the final three weeks of Mary’s life. They would like to acknowledge the special efforts of the entire staff, and in particular Sydney, Tara, and Betsy who did so much to help the family during these challenging times.

Funeral services will be private, but if you would like to remember her with a donation, two of her favorites were The Community Hospice, (www.communityhospice.org), and her favorite small local charity, Orange Street Cats of Albany, (www.orangestreetcats.org) where she adopted her rescued fur baby, Eugene.  To leave the family an online condolence, please visit applebeefuneralhome.com.
