Obituary of Marilyn D. Dewey
DELMAR- Marilyn Doris Dewey passed away peacefully at age 85 on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center, where she had lived for more than ten years. She had received exceptional, loving care and the staff became a second family to her.
Marilyn was born in Albany, the daughter of the late Robert and Dorothy Dewey. She is survived by her sister, Barbara (John) Sommer of Delmar; her nephew, Andrew Sommer and nieces Lisa (Jack) Pederson, Carolyn (Sean) Cahill and Kate (Jason) Towlen. She is also survived by several cousins, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Despite health issues since childhood, Marilyn was a gregarious and cheerful person who delighted in her family and their celebrations. She enjoyed vacationing at Long Lake and Cape Cod. Marilyn was employed at Albany Medical Center Hospital for over 20 years.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, March 18th from 4 to 6 pm at the Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave., Delmar. Services will be held on Thursday, March 19th at 10:30 am at the funeral home. Burial will be in Albany Rural Cemetery, Menands. Contributions in her memory may be sent to the Activities Dept. at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center, 2 Mercycare Ln., Guilderland, NY 12084. Marilyn always enjoyed the musical entertainment and many activities at her residence.
