Obituary of Dorothy T. Schwarz

DANBURY, CT - Dorothy Theresa Stampfl Schwarz, 89, of Danbury, CT, passed away on Saturday, October 24th, 2015. Born July 13th, 1926 in Ridgewood, NY, she was the daughter of the late John and Veronica Stampfl. She worked for American Cyanamide in New York City, NY before marrying John Schwarz on October 8th, 1949 at St. Pancreas Church in Glendale, NY. They remained married for 42 years until John's passing in 1991. Dorothy's life centered around her faith and her family. She was an active participant at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, acting as Eucharistic Minister, lector and catechist. She attended St. Joseph Church since her move to Danbury, CT in 2013. Dorothy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Dorothy is survived by her three daughters, Sister Barbara Schwarz of Amityville, NY; Margaret Farrell and husband, James Farrell of Vernon, CT; and Maria O'Leary and husband, John O'Leary of Danbury, CT. She also is survived by six grandchildren as well as six great-grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave., Delmar, NY on Wednesday, October 28th from 4 to 7pm. A Mass of the Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, October 29th at 9:30am at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Delmar, NY. Burial will be held immediately following in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Regional Hospice and Home Care Center for Care and Concern, located at 30 Milestone Road, Danbury, CT, 06810.
