Obituary of William D. Smith
DELMAR – William D. Smith, 58, passed away on Monday, October 26, 2015 at St. Peter's Hospital after a long illness.
Born July 15, 1957 in Albany, he was the son of Carol (Lee) Smith and the late Richard K. Smith. Bill was a graduate of Bethlehem Central High School, Albany Business College and Mildred Elley, where he studied computer science. He enjoyed collecting lighthouses, loved Halloween and watching horror movies. Bill loved going to his parent's camp at Sherman Lake, going hunting with his father and taking trips to Lake George.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife Joan (Genthner) Smith; his aunt, Virginia Lee Cook; and several in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday from 4 to 7 pm at the Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave., Delmar. A funeral service will be held on Friday at 11 am at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 16 Elsmere Ave., Delmar. Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Arthritis Foundation, 1717 Central Ave., Suite 105, Albany, NY 12205 or the American Diabetes Association, Pine West Plaza Bldg. 2, Suite 204, Washington Ave. Ext., Albany, NY 12205.
