I left Bridge Street well over 30 years ago, but I remember Mr. Shanholtz (he was Mr. Shanholtz, to me) well. He was always nice, friendly and good to his neighbors. My father would speak of him often, as he'd run into him in Delmar, somewhere. Dad told me how he overcame his physical disabilities and I was happy to hear he didn't let it get him down. His sons can be confident in the fact that he is now with Jean and resting in peace.

We will miss your humor, your value of family and your optimisim. You were always a good friend to Mom and us and we were blessed to have you as family. We draw comfort in knowing you are with the Holy Father and all those who have gone before you. What a family reunion that is! Rest in peace, dear cousin, we love you. Although we lived just houses apart, we shared a West Virginia connection to Fred. He was always so warm and friendly to our family. The stories that he shared with the children stick out in their minds as if he was a grandfather. Fred's persistence and strength provided an excellent example for all. He will be missed!!!

Fred was a good friend and a great guy. Fred was very helpful and very appreciative. He was generous to good causes. He was good company, too. I will miss talking with him and going places with him. He has friends and family in heaven and his cat and his dog and I'm sure he's very happy to see them but he will be missed.

I offer my heartfelt sympathy to Fred's family. Sorry to say I have gotten to know Fred in only the last few years. He was so interesting to talk with and made me laugh with some of his stories and jokes. I knew hiim to be a kind and generous person. I will miss visiting him on Bridge St. Mary

Our entire neighborhood will miss Fred. We will remember him for his friendliness and caring, and for his strength in overcoming the physical problems that confronted him in the last few years. He was an inspiration. His kindness to my husband and me as we went through difficult times recently was a source of great comfort. My grandchildren loved him -- he always had a cookie and love waiting for them in his kitchen. God Bless You, Fred -- you are in a better place now.
