Obituary of Anna Colonna Carroll

Delmar, New York – Anna Colonna Carroll died Friday, January 1, 2016, at her home in Delmar, NY. She was the daughter of John B. and Stella Paladino Colonna, born on February 2, 1924. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Candice (Burnell) and Patrick Stellato and Anita and Sam Clayton; her beloved grandchildren, Jennifer Estelle Burnell, Max Joseph Clayton, and Hali Ann Clayton, her much loved great-grandson, Matthew Patrick, and her faithful canine companion Cosmo “Cozie” Kramer. She was predeceased by her son, Joseph James Carroll and grandson, Charles Matthew Burnell. Anna grew up in Albany, NY. She graduated from the Academy of the Holy Names, Class of 1941; attended Russell Sage College and graduated from Albany Business College. She was co-owner and manager of John’s Beauty Salons. She was a communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Church, a founding member of the Seniors Group at the Church, and was active in many community organizations and ministry activities throughout her life. She was an original member of the Bethlehem Senior Chorus, which gave her so much pleasure, joy and friendships. She focused her life on her family, extended family and friends. In spite of devastating losses, she found joy in the large and small affairs of life. She possessed a generosity of heart that is so rare; she shared her love, friendships, time, talents, material goods with a profound selflessness. She made every encounter a party – her motto was “Carpe Diem”. We are grateful to all her family and friends who cared about her so deeply. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Avenue, Delmar on Tuesday, January 5, from 4 to 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 35 Adams Pl, Delmar on Wednesday, January 6 at 9:30 a.m. Internment will be in Calvary Cemetery immediately following the service.
