Obituary of Agnes Castanho Moniz

DELMAR – Agnes Castanho Moniz, 89, of Delmar passed away Sunday, October 21, 2018. 

Born in Providence, RI on February 13, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Mary and Joseph Castanho. Agnes was employed for many years at Hilchie’s Hardware, and later Johnson’s Stationery. She enjoyed caring for her flower gardens and backyard birds and rooting for the Yankees. She loved the ocean and many family vacations on Cape Cod. Agnes was especially happy to have attended her granddaughter’s wedding in Provincetown last month. She lived life on her own terms, being blessed with good health for so many years, and was the center of the family. She will be missed by all who knew her.  

Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Joseph S. Moniz; sons, Joseph Moniz, Jr. (Cynthia Cajobe) and Mitchell A. Moniz; daughter, Karen A. Wilson (Jeffrey); grandson, Bryan J. Wilson and his son, Hayden; granddaughter, Jennifer R. Wilson-Koch (Ted); and several nieces and nephews.

 
A Memorial Service will be held 10:00 am Friday at Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave., Delmar. Burial will follow in Bethlehem Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave., Menands, NY 12204.
